I have not seen and will not see The Watchmen until it comes through Netflix. I am sure The Wired Lady is correct. If this was such a great story why did only hardcore nerds know about this thing. Even geeks like me and Steve really didn’t read this stuff and were vaguely aware of The Watchmen. I think people expect all comic book and graphic novels to be great on screen. Bottom line is for every Dark Knight and Iron Man, there are dozens of movies like Spawn, Punisher, Fantastic Four, etc that are dogshit. I am betting that after this weekend the movie will slow down. This is targeted to HARDCORE geeks and these geeks don’t have enough disposable income to go see the movie 2 and 3 times like we all did for Dark Knight.
My sympathies to Stephanie for having to sit through this for 2.5 hours.

Okay, Collector…I’m sorry, I mean BJ, just because the movie is targeted towards hardcore geeks, doesn’t mean they’re the only ones that’ll enjoy it. I loved it, but I’ll have to see it again since I got hit with a stomach flu right smack dab in the middle. More importantly though, my date loved it, and she had never been exposed to the comic at all until she saw it.
Personally, I thought it was extremely well done, my only complaint being the bold, poppish soundtrack, which frankly, distracted the hell out of me. 99 Luft Balloons? Alleluia? ,,,Really? I see what Snyder was trying to do here, but it just didn’t work…I would’ve rather have heard a full score instead of reminiscent pop songs that took me out of the film. Regardless, go see it, dude. It’s eight bucks. Six if you go for a matinee…but with everything involved in it, it’s definitely a film you need to experience in the theater.
And finally, what local theater has valet parking? …LA is so weird.

That’s Universal Studios/Citywalk. It’s the closest IMAX. And continue this battle on the next post — the actual review!
